New in 2018 – The Outlier Intramural Open

We are going to do something new this year to make the open a little more fun for EVERYONE!

We are creating the 2018 Outlier Intramural Open. Anyone (and hopefully that’s EVERYONE) that wants to compete within the gym will be broken up in teams. Each team will have a gym Coach (one of your regular Outlier coaches) and a team captain (member from the team).

Each week we will complete the workouts for the open on either Friday or Saturday (more info on that and schedule below). If you cannot complete it during that time you can do it any time Friday/Saturday/Sunday/Monday. Points will be awarded to the top finishers and the team with total top scores. You will also get points if everyone on your team submits a score. There will be other opportunities to earn points throughout the open to make it more fun than just the 5 workouts.

To sign up, you need to commit to yourself and your team that you will do all 5 workouts. You can sign up solo or if you really want to be on a team with a friend/spouse/etc you can pick 1 person to be your sign up buddy and we will keep you together when we divide out the teams. You do not need to pay to be part of the intramural open. You DO NOT have to register with CrossFit HQ and pay for the open there (but it’s fun if you do).

We need you to sign up by February 9th so we have time to get the teams all set in advance. If you’re interested in being a team captain let us know! To sign up, add your name to the list at the gym on the window (if you have a buddy put your name + their name on the same line).

We realize that while the open is a lot of fun it can be a bit consuming when it’s every Friday night or Every Saturday morning for 3 weeks. The response for your preferred days was split right down the middle so we are going to alternate days for when/how we run the group open WOD. For Friday Night Lights we will have childcare for the beginning part of the afternoon. We will have childcare on Saturdays at 8am as usual. On Saturdays when we run the open WOD (3/3 and 3/17) we will NOT have barbell. We will have barbell on the non-open Saturdays. On Friday Night Lights days the open WOD will be the programmed WOD for the entire day. If you cannot do the workout on the Friday or Saturday when the gym does it, you can do it at any time the gym is open to get your score.

Formal Open schedule for Outlier:
February 23 Friday Night Lights 4-7pm
March 3 Saturday Morning Shenanigans 8-10:30
March 9 Friday Night Lights 4-7pm
March 17 Saturday Morning Shenanigans 8-10:30
March 23 Friday Night Lights 4-7pm
