We run several competitions throughout the year with our competition series. The events are meant to be a serious test as well as welcoming to the intermediate CrossFit athlete. It is fun to have the chance to compete against other people that you don’t normally see. Last year we created the “Galactic Civil War.” It’s inception was based on the idea that we wanted as many people from Outlier and Coronado to come together to compete against each other. In doing so we made one of the most fun events ever ran here at Outlier.

We made 4 giant teams of about 18 people. Based on the ability level of each individual the coaches talked about the teams and determined that the teams were as evenly balanced as possible. Then the coaches drew straws to figure out who coached which team. Over a dozen workouts were created. Ranging from the most simple movements possible to the expected “advanced” movements. We did this so that everyone had a chance to contribute to their team.

The result was an amazing day of laughs, sweat, tears (mainly Abduls) and good times. This is truly a competition for any and everyone within our two gyms. You can expect to do anywhere from 3-5 events to contribute to your team. You and your team captain will talk and discuss how you can best contribute to your team. Last year lots of people got to meet members of the gym that they normally wouldn’t get a chance to train with and new relationships were formed! This is an amazing event that brings our community together in a special way and we look forward to lots of you being involved this year!!
