Best day of the year at Outlier CrossFit is coming up! This is an intra-gym competition where Outliers will compete in large teams lead by a designated coach for a full day of CrossFit fun. Mark your calendars for Saturday June 29th and reserve the whole day. Once registration closes, teams will be formed with an effort to be as evenly matched as possible.
This competition is for all Outliers of any experience level and is about building our community in a fun, competitive atmosphere. There will be a variety of events and participation in the events will be split up equally among team members so that no matter your experience level, you will contribute to your team as much as anyone. Event details are pending, but know that last year we had 9 events, including olympic lifting ladders, sprint WODs, and relay races. Like I said, it will be a full day of competition. Whether you are a seasoned veteran, or a newbie, this is the event of the year.

Please note the following when reading the workout descriptions:
A1 = athlete 1 (male or female)
M1 = male athlete 1
F1 = female athlete 1
Workout #1 – “ALL the Lifts” Ladder
Who: All athletes
15 station barbell ladder, 1 minute per station. Athletes will get credit for 1 lift at each station. If the athlete fails an attempt, they may re-attempt with the same lift, or choose to switch to a different lift. The weight must be successfully lifted within the 1-minute window. Each lift has a different point value:
Snatch = 4 points
Clean and jerk = 3 points
Clean = 2
Deadlift = 1 point
Athlete will receive points per above. Once an athlete is not able to complete a lift, they will exit the ladder. Points will be summed from all of their successful lifts to contribute to their team’s score for this workout. If an athlete fails a jerk, they must perform another clean to receive 2 points for a successful clean (the clean from the first clean and jerk does not count for a 2-point clean). The same rules applies for deadlift. At the final station, athletes may perform as many lifts as possible within the 1 minute window to earn additional points.
Ladder weights coming soon…
Workout #6 – Axe Throw Biathlon
Who: 4 athletes
A1, then A2, then A3, then A4:
25m DB/KB front rack lunge
5 axe throws*
25m DB/KB front rack lunge
A1 & A2 use DBs (2 x 40/25)
A3 & A4 use KBs (2 x 53/35)
*Penalty for each missed axe throw = 5 DB/KB thrusters (same weights as used for lunges)
Teams will select four athletes to complete this WOD relay style. Starting NE corner of the building, A1 will lunge down the alley to Battle Axe. A1 will enter Battle Axe (walking safely!) and perform their 5 axe throws. Axes must stick within the designated circle to count. Upon finishing the throws, A1 will exit Battle Axe and perform any penalty reps prior to starting the lunge back to tag in A2.
