Halloween Throwdown – Saturday, October 29th
Here at Outlier we are very excited to share with you our new competition series. Competition is one of the things that makes CrossFit so much fun. On a daily basis we show up to classes to push ourselves and our friends to see what we are capable of. Every so often we like to go outside our familiar walls of our home gym and compete with people we don’t normally see and put ourselves in a performance position. Local competitions are a place for people to see how they stack up against the rest as well as a great place to have fun with new and old friends.
Here at Outlier CrossFit we are rolling out a four part competition series that we feel many CrossFitters will be very excited to be a part of. Our focus is to provide a competition experience like nothing else offered in San Diego. The competitions will be fueled by programming that is fresh and different from the current offerings. From new formats to movements and equipment not typically seen. Every competitor will have more than ample action time to feel like they got their money’s worth. All events are going to be team events offered in the following format with a scaled format and a RX division: 1 Male/1 Female, 1 Female/1 Female, 1 Male/1 Male.
There is a feature of the coming events that we are excited to announce. When a team competes in one event. Those points will carry through to the future events and add up at the end of the series to help us place winners in the final championship round where trophies will be given out to the best performing teams throughout the year. We are confident that after the dust has settled from the first comp that many of you will be excited to take part in the next one. We will offer discounted entries to 1st place along with other prizes for each competition. So lets start going over the details!
Our first part of our series will kick off with our Halloween Throwdown on October 29th, followed by our Swolemate Showdown in February 2017, our Summer Smackdown in May 2017, and we will end the series with the Best Coast Invitational in August 2017.
We will be offering a scaled division along with a RX division for every competition for each partner combination so we will have 6 different options offered to compete in. The price for the competition is $69 per person if you sign up by midnight on Sunday, September 11th (ENTER CODE HALLOWEEN2016 FOR $10 EARLY REGISTRATION DISCOUNT). After this date the price goes up to $79 per person. The price includes a shirt. Spectators are welcome at no cost. We are only allowing 60 teams to compete so hurry up and sign up before we sell out!

Only 1 partner will work at a time and each partner must complete at least 1 rep of each movement. Movement standards will be announced soon. There will be an 18 minute time cap for this workout.
Snatches and Wall Ball WOD:
7 Minutes to Accumulate total weight lifted and total reps for Wall Balls
Snatch (power or squat)
25 Wall Balls RX / 15 Wall Balls for Scaled (20/14 for Scaled and RX Division)
*You will have 7 minutes to complete this workout which is worth 2 separate scores. You will get 1 score for total weight lifted for the snatch and 1 score for total wall balls completed in the 7 minutes. 1 partner must complete all of the wall balls to earn an attempt for the team to complete 1 snatch. You are only allowed 1 snatch attempt after all of the reps for the wall balls have been completed. You also must take 1 snatch attempt before you can go back to the wall balls. If you are on a male/female team, each partner on the team must attempt 2 snatches (i.e. the male partner must attempt 2 snatches and the female partner must attempt 2 snatches, you are not allowed to have 1 partner snatch the entire time).
Final WOD – GHD Sit Ups and Sled Pushes
AMRAP in 10 Minutes of:
GHD Sit Ups RX / Weighted Sit Ups (25/15 plate) Scaled
Sled Pushes (5/4 – 45 lb plates RX) / (3/2 45 lb plates scaled)
One partner will be pushing the sled 50 meters while the other partner is accumulating as many GHD sit ups or weighted sit ups and you switch when the partner returns with the sled. Score will be based on total sit ups and sled pushes accumulated in the 10 minutes.
Floater WOD – Ski Erg for Calories
5 Minute to Accumulate Max Calories on the ski erg between you and your partner, you can switch as often as you would like during the 5 minutes. Floater WOD must be signed up for during check in and completed by noon.
